Monday – Today we had the pleasure of having lunch with some Russian visitors. There were 7-8 delegates that were touring Frisco to take ideas back to their country. They were so thankful for our time and we had interesting discussions. For instance, one of the delegates was starting a soccer program in their country and they were trying to prove it made a difference in kid’s lives. I think pictures of Pizza Hut Park will tell a thousand words.
Thursday – This afternoon we had a planning meeting for the Frisco Parade. It is going to be quite a show this year! This evening we attended an event hosted by the Chamber of Commerce and the Frisco EDC entitled the “Biggest, Best & Brightest.” This event invited executives from the top companies in Frisco to give them an oppotunity to network with one another. It was a wonderful event and I have the opportunity to meet some extraordinary people in the business community. I look forward to the next one!
Friday – Today we had a planning meeting for the Great Steak of Texas. Many of you have remembered the ones put on the last few years. We are attempting to bring it back but make it much more appealing. My goals are to have it centered around food and honoring Frisco’s Heritage. We are working on a sanctioned BBQ cookoff and a Taste of Frisco type event. The event would be surrounded by a festival type atmosphere. Unlike prior years, we will limit it to a 1 day event. If you are interested in being involved, please let me know!
Saturday – Tonight we attended the Boys and Girls Club Ball. There were thousands of people there and the event raised over $1 million! Newy Scruggs was the emcee for the evening and the Pointer Sisters provided the entertainment. Although the highlight of the evening was entering the party with the hundreds of kids that benefit from the Boys and Girls Club screaming for everyone entering. It was quite an evening for a great cause. However, Newy outbit my for a Bounce House party in the silent auction.
