The Colony’s Leading Real Estate Firm
Prior to 1969, The Colony did not exist. Initially founded by a couple of local home developers who purchased most of the land that would become The Colony around Hwy 121, the city was actually modeled after Dallas. Located near Lake Lewisville just 30 minutes from Dallas, The Colony was originally planned to be a development consisting primarily of single-family homes. While the planning stages of The Colony began in 1969 as mentioned earlier, the city was not officially incorporated until 1977. Because The Colony had existed before it was incorporated, the definite article was kept in the city name moving forward. Diving deeper into The Colony’s history, the small lakeside community of Eastvale merged with the relatively new community of The Colony in 1987. If you’re into lakefront living, The Colony neighborhood, The Tribute is perfectly situated along Lake Lewisville.
Throughout the years, The Colony has expanded to include numerous well-respected and attractive communities. Amid the development, The Colony has prided itself on continuing to value the things that have always played a role in how well received the city is. As any resident of The Colony would tell you, the city is all about community involvement, such as volunteering and helping one another out on a daily basis. Beyond that, The Colony is highly regarded for its captivating tree-lined streets and quiet atmosphere. The Colony also features miles of trails and greenbelts, both of which offer a range of different opportunities for outdoor recreation.
