FRISCO, TX – January 10, 2013 – After serving the City of Frisco in Place 2 for six years, Jeff Cheney announced today that he plans to seek a third term on City Council. The municipal election takes place on May 11, 2013.
“It has been an honor to serve Frisco residents these last few years. I am proud to be part of the team that has accomplished so much, and I look forward to what the future holds,” Jeff observed.
Since Jeff was elected in 2007, Frisco has maintained one of the lowest tax rates in the region, while greatly reducing
the debt service burden. In addition to helping taxpayers, during Jeff’s tenure the City of Frisco has:
- Developed and implemented the internationally-renowned SAFER program, which allows local public safety officials to monitor school emergencies
- Opened the Frisco Athletic Center and Fieldhouse USA
- Expanded the Dr Pepper Star Center
- Opened Fire Stations 6 and 7
- Brought the Museum of the American Railroad to relocate from Dallas Fair Park
- Opened the Frisco Discovery Center
- Brought the NCAA Division 1 Championship Game to Frisco
- Negotiating the closing of the Exide Technologies battery recycling plant
While proud of the accomplishments already achieved, Jeff says there is still work to do for the future of Frisco. “W
e are planning our next mall along Highway 380, attracting new businesses, and working on building a vibrant mixed-use development,” Jeff reports. “We also hope to focus on Grand Park to make it the heart of Frisco and a regional destination. This is a project I have been very passionate about, and I am determined to see it come to fruition.”
Jeff Cheney officially kicks off his re-election campaign on January 29, 2013 at Bonnie Ruth’s Cafe Trottoir Et Patisserie at 6959 Lebanon Road in Frisco, from 5:30-7:00 pm. The public is invited to join Jeff and his supporters as Jeff shares his vision for Frisco’s future.
