Tonight’s City Council meeting was fairly light.

A few items of note:

  • Council discussed revising the sign ordinance.  This was last revised approximately a year ago.  The current sign ordinance allowed no signs in the City ROW.  It only allows an Open House and Garage Sale sign on the property having the Open House or Garage Sale.  Although I agree with the intent to keep Frisco clear or visually unappealing signs, I felt the current sign ordinance was too restrictive.  The rest of Council agreed.  Council voted unanimously to amend the sign ordinance to allow Open House and Garage Sale signs to also be placed on private property at the consent of the owner.  They still need to stay our of the ROW.  However, they will have the ability to have directional signs which should help our citizens.
  • We began discussions on the Senior Tax Freeze.  A few citizens spoke in favor of the freeze and a few spoke in favor of increasing the senior exemption instead of a freeze.  These were just preliminary discussions and staff has been asked to gather additional information.
  • Council designated all of the coin donations to the Plaza Fountain will be donated to a local charity Frisco Cares.  This is a very deserving Frisco charity that provides la ow-cost health-clinic for uninsured children.  Click here to learn more about Frisco Cares
