We have exciting news! The Cheney Group has learned that Frisco will soon be home to a new residential and retail development headed by Newland Communities of California and Japan-based North America Sekisui House LLC. According to the press release, upon completion, the project will include more than 1,800 homes and 1,400 apartments – in addition to retail and office space – in Frisco. California-based Newland Communities and Sekisui House – a subsidiary of a prominent Japanese builder – came together to purchase 729 acres of land on Main Street, just west of Custer Road in Frisco.
This announcement should come as no surprise to residents and business owners alike, as we have seen how rapidly Frisco and all of North Texas is growing over the last year or so. The project should break ground sometime this year, beginning with the first phase of a single-family home community that should be ready by the start of 2017. Situated just 30 minutes from downtown Dallas, developers and community members alike expect this project to be yet another strong point for Frisco.
About the Project and Builders
The announcement of this new project is monumental for numerous reasons, but it should be noted that the area of land that was purchased for the development is one of the last big undeveloped tracts in this part of Frisco. The property is already in zones, which will help out Newland and Sekisui logistically. Frisco is no stranger to new construction and community developments, however, this specific project aims to offer a wide range of options for residents. From luxury homes to more affordable housing, the developers are hoping to appeal to potential homeowners with all different budgets. The homes that are slated to be completed in the first phase should range in price from $400,000 to $600,000, with townhomes and smaller options starting in the high $200,000 down the road.
Newland Communities is no stranger to North Texas home building, having a hand in numerous projects such as the Stonebridge Ranch community in McKinney as well as the Canyon Falls community in Flower Mound and Hollyhock in Frisco. Sekisui House, respectively, is Japan’s largest residential homebuilder and has headed tons of projects across the globe, building more than 2 million homes in Japan, the United States, China, Australia, and Singapore.

As we’ve discussed in the past, homes are flying off the market in North Texas at an extremely high rate. In order to ensure you have the opportunity to submit an offer on a home in this specific Frisco community or any of the area’s new developments, it is absolutely imperative that you have a knowledgeable Realtor by your side. In many cases, the homes are off the market before they are ever publicly announced. Depending on the seller, Frisco Realtors are often given inside information to pass on to their clients. If you are interested in buying a home in Frisco or getting the first look at a house, townhome or apartment within this brand new community, please contact The Cheney Group today.
